Trump is firing his pollsters because he doesn’t like the numbers. Attaboy Don! That’ll work! Get more loyal pollsters, and they’ll make the numbers come out better, and that way you’ll win.
President Trump’s re-election campaign is letting go of some of its own pollsters after leaked internal polling showed the president behind Joe Biden in critical states, NBC News reports. Parts of the president’s expansive March polling was made public in recent days. The polls reportedly showed the president trailing across 2020 swing states, as well as in reliably red states that haven’t been competitive for decades in national elections. In states where Trump edged Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by narrow margins in 2016—such as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan—Trump currently trails Biden by double-digits. Trump is also behind the former vice president by 7 points in the battleground state of Iowa, but is holding a small lead in Texas. A person close to the Trump re-election team told NBC News that the campaign was would no longer be working with certain pollsters in response to the leaks.
Uh huh, definitely because of the leaks, not at all because they show him looooooozing.
Hey, Trump can get America to Mars (and to the Moon, which is part of Mars, but is also, at the same, time a TOTAL distraction from Mars-going) by firing all the current NASA scientists and hiring new ones that will give him better numbers for getting there.
Biden, of course, will use this to show how he needs to be the nominee. Democrats will choose him on this basis.
Oh well.
It’s probably both the leaking and the losing. These were very embarrassing polls and any campaign would expect them to be kept tightly guarded.
The nomination’s a long way off and Biden is not a lock. Elizabeth Warren is gaining some momentum lately. Biden still has the best numbers against Trump, but the difference is mostly more undecideds, not people switching to Trump. If they look strong in debates, etc., they’ll get their numbers against Trump up as well.
But, yeah, if it’s Biden vs. Trump I will not even think twice about voting for Biden.

He’s lucky the polls aren’t comparing his popularity to a cocker spaniel. That would REALLY piss him off.

That would only make sense if they were the only polls embarrassing to Trump, but virtually every other poll – those not carried out by Trump’s people – show the same result. There’s no point in keeping one set of results hidden if all other publically available polls show the same.
I don’t think it’s down to either leaking or losing, it’s simply that Trump pays people to tell him what he wants to hear, not to be honest with him. He’ll just keep on commissioning polls until he gets a set of rrsults that show zero support for his opposition, giving him the bigliest of bigly leads. On that poll, around 173% of all voters will be Trump voters by Trump mathematics.
