The hospitalization rate is around 20% and considering how overwhelmed the healthcare system already is that mortality rate is going to soar if nothing is done. Also being a rich fuck doesn’t keep you alive in the circumstances (doesn’t hurt).

The rest of the world is watching this in utter disbelief. Johns Hopkins is now graphing the individual escalation curves on their dashboard. There is no steeper curve anywhere in the world, it is barely a goddamn curve at all. The US is going to catch Italy sometime late Wednesday, and is going to catch China sometime on the weekend. It is complete madness to start talking about the end of countermeasures – they have barely even begun. The mortality curve is about to do the same damn thing, it appears that by the weekend people will be dying at a rate of ~250 per day unless intervention at scale can alleviate the situation in NYC, and other hotspots are going to be entering that stage.
