This is so profoundly contemptuous of women: pretend woman goes to Brazil to get a “womb transplant” so that he can have a baybee.
I wonder how many pregnant women in favelas could use better health care. I wonder how much pretend-woman’s “transplant” and ensuing care is going to cost.
Jessica Alves has revealed she has travelled to Brazil in her bid to become the first known transgender woman to have a womb transplant.
The Celebrity Big Brother star, 38, shared her hope that she would be able to get pregnant after undergoing the £30,000 transplant.
It is possible that Jessica could fall pregnant through IVF if she decided to go through with the transplant.

Jessica told The MailOnline: “There are some very good doctors here that could hopefully do it. The surgery is do-able, the same way that surgery is done on a biological woman. To a transgender woman is is exactly the same thing.”

If he means trans women can have surgery just as women can, then duh, sure, but if he means his planned surgery to make a male body pregnant, then duh, of course it’s not the same thing. I guess he’s stupid as well as self-obsessed?

I’m no biologist, but it strikes me that you need a lot more than a womb to gestate and birth a child. It’s like putting wings on a car and expecting it to fly.
Oh, now, WaM, how could you say that? If it’s simple enough for women to do, it doesn’t take anything more than a bag in your body to hold the baby! Otherwise stupid women wouldn’t be able to do it! (The thing is, of course, it’s about biology, not intelligence, and women have a number of differences in biology from men.)
This is so seriously fucked up. Get a life, TiMs! Take up a hobby like, maybe, stamp collecting, sky diving, visiting psychics…anything to give yourself amusement. Or you could volunteer at Habitat for Humanity or the food bank, like millions of us awful TERFy “cis-perisexual” natal women do.
What a Maroon@1: Yeah, the first thought that comes to my mind is hormone regulation–there’s a TON of shit going on in a woman’s body during pregnancy, and trying to manage all of that artificially is likely to just end up with a messy miscarriage.

Tbh, I’d rather sell one of these “folx” my uterus than be a surrogate… I mean, it’s not doing me any good, and isn’t ever going to, so someone might as well try to get some use out of it? Provided my financial and medical criteria are met, of course…
Which does make me wonder a lot about whose uterus they plan to implant. But then again, never mind, of course she doesn’t matter. (Well, it seems like it could be a good deal for a “trans man”, but then they’d matter again and would be mentioned. Or something.)

If he gets pregnant via IVF, he’s certainly going to lose the baby, and could well lose his own life. No way a male body can carry a baby to term.

Do they mean there could be whole armies of transwomen who have had womb transplants but are just so gosh darn modest and private that this medical breakthrough has not been reported anywhere? Or are we meant to believe that doctors are cutting people open and rummaging around in their abdomen to do womb transplants all day long and have no idea whether their patients are trans or not?
So, Lili Elbe had this done and died from it. Granted, medical procedures have advanced a bit since the 1930s but it does lead to ask what the uterus will be attached to. It’s not a stand alone organ. I can’t imagine how it could possibly function in a male body. And judging. By the size of his waist I can’t imagine where it will go.
Tell me again how AGP is not a thing.
