I’m with Théoden on this:

The thing for me about the Théoden quote is that it’s diametrically opposed to this notion that demanding an accounting will somehow divide the nation more. On the contrary, without an accounting, the division can never heal, because the lies will continue, knowing there are no consequences.
Republicans when not in power: Give and take is good in politics, so throw us a bunch of compromises to get us on board.
Republicans when in power: WE HAVE A MANDATE TO DO WHATEVER THE FUCK WE WANT
Just imagine what these Republican insurrectionist enablers would be singing if the coup had succeeded. They’d be helping the rioters line their erstwhile Democratic colleagues against the wall.
