Trump made his stupid “announcement.” He’ll extend DACA for awhile if he gets the 5 billion for Wall. No one took the bait.
Trump had indicated for weeks that he would not entertain an extension of DACA, which began in 2012 under President Obama and has offered renewable work permits to immigrants, known as “Dreamers,” who entered the country illegally as children. Trump had said he was hoping the Supreme Court would hear an appeal to a lower court’s injunction on his attempt to end DACA and, if the high court ruled in his favor, that ending the program would give him more leverage in talks with Democrats over the future of the Dreamers.
But the Supreme Court signaled Friday that it might not take the case. That would mean that Trump would remain unable to end DACA, which covers about 700,000 immigrants, and some Dreamer groups have called on Democrats not to cut a deal for the wall.
He’s some deal-maker all right.
It’s really simple; he can make all the DACA kids citizens (or put them on the citizen track whatever that is) and then he’ll find the Dems quite amenable to his stupid fucking wall.
That’s what compromise looks like but it just isn’t racist enough…
I keep seeing the press show footage of Donnie Twoscoops claiming that his wall is necessary to help with a “humanitarian crisis at the southern border”, but none of them seem to question what he means by that. In what way does Trump think that there is a “humanitarian crisis” there? What does he mean by that? And how does he expect his wall to solve the problem? And how does he expect the wall to be built quickly enough to solve the problem in a timely manner?
Wouldn’t it be better to spend the $5,000,000,000 on food, water, medicines and shelter – aren’t those normally the best ways to alleviate humanitarian crises?
I think Big, Strong, Impenetrable, Muscular Wall is supposed to scare people AWAY from the southern border. If there are no humans, there can be no humanitarian crisis. Problem solved!

This is the *one time* he has to pull out an amazing deal which both sides cannot fail to acknowledge as a perfect compromise. The *one time*. And he pulls this cockamamie bullshit that isn’t even fooling his own worshipers.
This or something like it is what will end Trump, I suspect. Even his greatest fans can see how he behaves under pressure and I doubt it’s sitting well. If and when the tide turns against him, it will be sudden and devastating. His base will go from clutching at excusing everything for MAGA to sheer bloody impotent rage that they’ve been deceived into believing their racist utopia was finally on the horizon.
I predict that the negative effects of the shutdown will be exponential, not linear. However bad it is now is nothing compared to how bad it will be in a week. In two weeks, holy shit.
If he can’t see the problem, the problem does not exist. Like a child hiding under the bedsheets to make the bogeyman disappear.
Seriously though, the reason he’s been blaming the humanitarian crisis on the Democrats is that he should have got his wall funded two years ago but they blocked it (despite the Republicans having control of both houses; that’s Trump maths for you). If the wall had been built two years ago (because two thousand miles of wall can go up that quickly!) the refugees would have got the message and gone somewhere else. That’s Trump logic, and it’s the Best Logic Ever Of All Time.
