That exchange reminds me of an article I read a couple of years ago. A male-identifying woman was recounting her experience of giving birth as a trans man. Asked how she was treated by the hospital staff she said that everybody from the doctors to the cleaning staff had treated her just like any other patient, with professionalism, kindness and respect. If she had stopped there it would have been lovely, but of course she went on to add ‘..they did a good job of hiding their transphobia’!
It seems ubiquitous in that communinny: prejudice not in evidence is merely evidence of prejudice suppressed.
