  • Josh Duggar boasts “children are a gift from the Lord”

Think Progress collects Josh Duggar’s nine most sanctimonious moments as Executive Director of the Family Research Council. (Mr Family Values, that guy – grope your sisters, they’re Family.)

    1. When Josh Duggar argued that an LGBT nondiscrimination measure in Arkansas jeopardized the safety of children:

Enacting additional laws that are trying to protect one group of people over another is not really the solution and in fact it has the inverse effect on others…We have to make sure we’re standing up to protect the rights of privacy and protecting the well-being of women and children in our cities.

Yeah baby. Keep the poofters from molesting our women and children. Don’t let them marry, because then they might have a straight son who would molest his younger sisters. We wouldn’t want that.

    3. When Josh Duggar appeared at a charity event and talked about how doing evil things to children is the worst:

In the absence of doing good, Duggar said, “evil comes in to fill the void,” adding, evil done to children is “one of its worst forms.” CCHO is a place they can go and “break that chain (of evil).”

So is prison…if their parents don’t cover the whole thing up until after the statue of limitations expires. Isn’t this a great country?

    7. When Josh Duggar went on the Today Show and talked about how “children are a gift” that require you to look “beyond youself”:

You know, really children are a gift from the Lord and when you look at them that way and you look at them really as more of an investment and really, you know, looking beyond yourself, I think that’s what’s so important.

An investment in high quality young tits and pussies to grope.

That’s only three of the nine. He’s a dedicated man.

  • The Duggar family is a cult

Mark Joseph Stern at Slate points out the undeniable, that Josh Duggar’s horrible ignorant benighted fanatical parents made him what he is. Yes, indeed they did.

A boy grows up in a controlling, cultlike family that rejects Enlightenment values and closes off much of the outside world. He is deprived of any conception of morality separate from a fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible. His intellectual and ethical development is stunted by reactionary, dogmatic views about gender and sexuality. He is told that women were made to be subservient to men, to be obedient to their masters. How should we react when it comes to light that this boy repeatedly molested young girls?

With rage at his parents and the Quiverful movement, and at popular culture in general and TLC in particular for treating it like a darling quaint back to nature movement.

Duggar—star of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, oldest child of the right-wing Duggar family, and (until now) a key player at the Family Research Council, a certified hate group—has spent his career fighting LGBTQ rights. He has fought against marriage equality and LGBT nondiscrimination ordinances, suggesting that such laws could jeopardize children. His mother implied that trans people are child predators. His employer wrote that gay marriage and gay adoption should be outlawed because gay men are extremely likely to molest young boys. And at the same time he and his family were promoting these noxious views and using reality TV to build their fame, they were covering up Josh’s record of molesting multiple young girls as a teenager. (TLC pulled the show from its schedule on Friday.)

All while looking as if butter wouldn’t melt in their sanctimonious mouths.

Although TLC goes to great lengths to mask this fact, the Duggar family is a cult. They forbid their children [to explore] outside ideas and expression, carefully monitoring every word and image they are exposed to. They forbid them [to wear] shorts. They homeschool them in order to indoctrinate them with backward beliefs. They refuse to let their adult daughters kiss or hold hands before marriage and demand to read every text between their daughters and their suitors. They adhere to a fringe Christian movement called the “Christian patriarchy,” which commands total female submission to men and limited education for women. The Duggars do everything they can to control their children’s minds, then brainwash them with misogynistic dogma.

So is it any surprise that they treat women and girls like shit? No. Is it any surprise that they don’t confine the shit treatment to lawfully wedded wives and daughters? Not really, no.

  • Arkansas police have destroyed the record

    Unbelievable.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas police have destroyed a record outlining a nearly decade-old investigation into reality TV star Josh Duggar, a spokesman said Friday, a day after the 27-year-old resigned his role with a prominent conservative Christian group amid reports about sexual misconduct allegations from when he was a juvenile.

“Sexual misconduct” is putting it a great deal too politely. The allegations are that he groped his younger sisters.
The reports are also that his parents did nothing about it, and that his sisters were expected to “forgive” him and leave it at that.

And that the Duggars have been telling the world how fabulous they are because Jesus via a popular reality tv show for the past seven years. Amid those reports, the records have been destroyed. What a squalid tank of shit all this is.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, which obtained the offense report before its destruction, reports Duggar was accused of fondling five girls in 2002 and 2003.

    Other outlets have it too.

Duggar issued an apology Thursday on Facebook for unspecified bad behavior as a youth and resigned his role as executive director for FRC Action, the tax-exempt legislative action arm of the Washington-based Family Research Council.

“I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions,” Duggar wrote. “In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.”

Fuck you. Fuck you you godbothering homophobic sister-groping creep. It’s not about you, it’s about the girls you groped.

Springdale Police began investigating Duggar in 2006 when officers were alerted to a letter containing the allegations that was found in a book lent by a family friend to someone else.

The report, originally published by tabloid In Touch Weekly, states that a member of Harpo Studios, the producer of Oprah Winfrey’s then show, received an email containing the allegations before the family was set to appear in 2006.

The tipster warned producers against allowing the Duggars on the show and studio staff members faxed a copy of the email to Arkansas State Police.

In 2006. In 2008 that revolting tv show started, and the Duggars have been lapping up the money and attention for seven years, after having successfully concealed a series of crimes against their own god damn daughters.

Springdale Police spokesman Scott Lewis said Judge Stacey Zimmerman ordered the 2006 offense report destroyed Thursday. Zimmerman didn’t return a request for comment on Friday.

“The judge ordered us yesterday to expunge that record,” Lewis said, adding that similar records are typically kept indefinitely. “As far as the Springdale Police Department is concerned this report doesn’t exist.”

    God’s will be done, eh?

Several Arkansas Republicans have rallied behind the Duggar family, which is still engrained in state politics. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar attended the kickoff event earlier this month for Republican presidential nominee Mike Huckabee, who supported the family in a Facebook post on Friday.

“Those who have enjoyed revealing this long ago sins in order to discredit the Duggar family have actually revealed their own insensitive bloodthirst, for there was no consideration of the fact that the victims wanted this to be left in the past and ultimately a judge had the information on file destroyed–not to protect Josh, but the innocent victims,” Huckabee wrote.

Oh really. And Huckabee knows that how exactly?

Arkansas Sen. Bart Hester said Josh Duggar, who he has known for about five years, has been open and honest about the incident with wife, family and friends. State Sen. Jon Woods, who has known the Duggar family since 2005, said the family had put the issue behind them.

“It’s between the family members and was addressed a long time ago but it’s new to the public,” Woods said. “The family had time to heal and now the public needs time to heal.”

No, you know what we need? An end to lectures on morality from Republican theocrats.

  • Get the popcorn

The response of The “Learning” Channel (yes it’s really called that – the channel that runs “19 Kids and Counting” along with other voyeuristic dreck uses the word “learning” in its title) to the allegations about First Patriarchal Son Josh Duggar was to run a marathon of the show yesterday. Very learning, much educational.

On Thursday, 19 Kids and Counting’s Josh Duggar responded to reports that he molested five underage girls when he was a teen.

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Josh, now 27, wrote on the Duggars’ Facebook page. “I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

Did he understand that it was about the lives of the little girls he was molesting before it was about his?

TLC, which has aired 19 Kids and Counting since 2008, did not comment on the subject. But the network did run a marathon of the popular series on Thursday night, upsetting many Twitter users.

It’s almost as if that’s not a particularly responsible or thoughtful way to react to the discovery that they’ve been promoting a hothouse of Masculinist Values for seven years.

After news of Josh Duggar sexually abusing his sisters, @TLC airs a marathon of 19 Kids and Counting instead of cancelling it. Disgusting.

They were his sisters? I missed that part.

Gee, The “Learning” Channel, great job. Impressive.

  • Jim Bob does history

Speaking of the Duggars, Jim Bob went to the values-voters summit and told the gang that the US is like Nazi Germany because abortion.

Jim Bob Duggar spent most of his speech at the Values Voter Summit imploring attendees to run for office, just like he did, in order to advance social conservative causes like an “army.”

Duggar ended the address by retelling a story about a time when Mike Huckabee and his daughter visited a concentration camp, which he used to compare the current state of the US to Nazi Germany.

“As they were walking out of that concentration camp, he said little Sarah looked up at him and she said, ‘Daddy why didn’t somebody do something?’ You know what, that’s where we are at in our nation,” Duggar said. “Do we want our children, when we’re going to tell them about how great America was, they’re going to look at you and say, ‘Why didn’t somebody do something?’”

Then a few days later he clarified what he meant.

Duggar has continued speaking the truth this week while campaigning for Republican and potential Virginia Governor Ken Cuccinelli II. As he’s had more opportunities to share his thoughts with the world, one might think Duggar had realized that perhaps he went a little far with his comparison of liberal Americans to Nazis. Unfortunately, as the Daily Press reports, Tuesday was not that day. Instead, it was the day for Duggar to specify that the true Nazis are pro-choice Americans:

    “Let me clarify,” he said.

“We have since 1973 (when Roe v. Wade was decided) had 55 million abortions, so what we have going on is a baby holocaust,” Duggar said.

No, because it’s not “babies”; it’s pregnancies. It’s not a holocaust when people decide not to conceive, either. A decision not to have a child is not a holocaust of the children who would have been born if no one had decided not to conceive them.

  • The second generation of modest dressing

As long as we’re dropping in on the pregnancy-fetishists, let’s drop in on one of the top fetishists of them all, Michelle Duggar. What’s Michelle Duggar been up to lately you wonder? Well trying to get pregnant with kid #20 is one thing (even though she nearly died carrying kid #19 and had a miscarriage last year), and another is telling her daughters not to be slutty, aka teaching them about “modest dress.”

My daughters are the second generation of modest dressing in this family. They’ve grown up being dressed modestly, and in clothes that are definitely more feminine apparel. I’ve told my daughters this has been a joyful journey for me to learn what my Lord has called me to. This is the direction that God has led me as your mother, and you’re in the family.

Rilly? That happened? God personally told her to tell her daughters not to wear jeans because that’s not feminine apparel? (Did he tell her to use words like “apparel” instead of “clothes” to sound more elevated and magisterial? In a feminine way, of course.)

When the girls are little, they’re jumping and playing and not even thinking about modesty. It’s good because that’s the way children should be. As a parent I would have to remind them, let’s not stand upside down on your head in that chair because you want to practice being ladylike. And they look at me with this puzzled looked like, what does that mean? I’ll explain, well, it means that you sit up, put your knees together and pull your skirt down over your knees.

In other words if you stand upside down in feminine apparel then PEOPLE CAN SEE YOUR UNDERPANTS.

Underpants underpants underpants. Oooooh. Satan. Flesh. Hot. Burning. Pants pants pants. What’s under the pants. Under.pants. Underpants. Under pants.

THE HOLE. THE HOLE IS UNDER THERE. YOU MUST NEVER STAND ON YOUR HEAD.

God forbid the kids should just wear jeans or shorts and bounce around any way they feel like. Hell no. They have to be all squicked out about it right from the beginning.

Even though they have on pantaloons or leggings, I’m teaching them that it’s not very polite to sit on your head with your legs scattered all over the place. It’s not like, shame on you, it’s more like, we’re going to learn to be proper and be a little lady instead of a tomboy that climbs in the tree all day long. There’s a time and a place for all of that. I definitely give them the freedom to go catch tadpoles and climb trees because I love doing that, too, but I want them to be ladylike and modest when we’re doing it.

Well, at the dinner table, if they do headstands they might accidentally kick the food onto the floor. But other than that? Pffffff. The hell with being ladylike.

But then I don’t get my instructions from god, so I’m probably all wrong here.
