Well, I just had to fight back some bile.
And not even women – girls! I wonder if that is on purpose, to bring images to men’s minds of hot young teens? And some of them may still be girls, unfortunately.
Is this what we are supposed to see as sex positive, and not challenge lest we be branded SWERFs?
(1) Prostitution is an industry based on male violence, it doesn’t necessarily have a connection with colonialism or racism.
(2) Presumably the Chinese text reads the same as the English text, consider the implications.
(3) European women, particularly blondes were usually valued more highly by Muslim and Asian slave traders, long before the first wicked Western imperialist left Europe. They were exotic.
Yeah, blonde girls, many of them Russian, were highly prized as sex slaves in the Ottoman Empire. they always fetched the highest price.
And…the (presumably Han) traders have marked down the non-Chinese. Breathtaking racism that can’t be shrugged off as ‘colonial.’ Though of course the scale and breadth of Chinese imperialism is another bit of inconvenient history.

I can remember a discussion I had with a Han Chinese, a few years ago. I heard him make some disparaging remarks about the ethnic minorities in China, I pointed out that he was making racist comments. He was indignant, it is part of his culture and a long tradition. It’s only racism if Caucasians express prejudiced attitudes towards minorities.
The idea of Chinese ‘soft power’ expansion belongs in the same category as ‘Muslim tolerance’, both are myths.
It’s not surprising that China’s territorial claims are scaring the bejeezus out of the Middle Kingdom’s neighbors in SE Asia, they have long memories

Apparently, Vietnamese brides–as young as 13–are now a hot commodity in China, since one-child policy, coupled with the ‘desire for sons’ (meaning, of course, that girl infants are frequently ‘dealt with’, ie, murdered at worst, orphaned at best) has left them with a glut of bachelors seeking wives.
The men get easily dominated wives; the traffickers get about $3K per girl, and the women get abused. Because that’s how imperialism (and yes, this is very much Chinese imperialism) works.
