The Trumpists are trying to spin this as a matter of “division,” with the solution being for all of us to UNITE behind AMERICA. Trump’s idiotic point-missing xenophobic tweet yesterday sent the signal:

No. The issue is not division, and nationalism is not the solution. Making it about AMERICA just deflect the hatred and violence outside our borders.

A good step towards uniting the country would be to stop waving Confederate and Nazi flags. I would gladly agree to do that, if I had any and lived in the US.
Whenever anyone says we all need to unite, I always assume that means “you really should just agree with me and do things my way”. If they really want to unite, they could just as easily stop doing the things they are doing, and they wouldn’t need to harp on the subject.
Pence said that the country is greatest when the people unite to oppose those seeking to cause divisions. Isn’t that exactly what the anti-Nazi protesters were trying to do? If the Nazis aren’t trying to cause major divisions then I’m a monkey’s aunty named Kevin*.
*Just to clarify, I am neither of those things.
