Why her fellow journalists

The big question:

How about this is the last time, eh? How about from now on there is pushback when Trump attacks a woman. How about all the journalists shout at him with one voice. How about he gets humiliated and shamed and rebuked.

I see shit like this and I can’t help thinking this country is dead in the water.

I don’t know why these men are acting performatively mystified that no one stood up for her. She’s a woman, he’s a man, men don’t interfere in other men’s business. (Same reason they didn’t interfere when Kitty Genovese was being murdered in public.)

Except that some did. The myth of the bystander’s ignoring it are just that – myths.

Yes – Rutger Bregman covers this extensively in Humankind. But the people who didn’t respond said that it was because they thought it was a ‘domestic’ and none of their business.

I wonder how much is because this shit has been normalized under Trump, and how much is fear of losing their precious “access” or “accreditation” for themselves, or their media-outlet-conglomerate masters?

The legacy media is utterly gutless. An FBI tip sheet included in the latest Epstein file release alleges that Trump participated in auctions of underage girls at Mar‑a‑Lago and that he measured girls’ genitals for tightness with his fingers. https://factually.co/fact-checks/politics/trump-mar-a-lago-allegations-auctioned-girls-measured-genitals-2c5a51

Reporters should be hounding Trump on this and asking when, not if, he plans to step down. They should be asking every prominent Republican if they’ve demanded Trump’s impeachment. This should be relentless as should be the demands for the release of the other half of the Epstein files. Too bad so many media owners are part of the Epstein class and continue to bend the knee.
