Ah but the strawberries

Who knew Trump was a fan of mutiny?

So is he identifying with Captain Bligh or Fletcher Christian?

But lots of people are remarking that he’s more like Captain Queeg.

Bligh was actually not the demon the later stories portrayed him as. The mutiny was more about Christian’s reluctance to leave Tahiti than any special brutality of Bligh’s, and several of the mutineers were more forced into it than enthusiastic allies.

This is from the man who thinks that war is putting on uniforms and running up hills.

Did he even SEE the movie? The Bounty mutineers didn’t need very much from the captain. The captain lost his ship and the mutineers took what they wanted. The mutineers ran away to the most isolated place on earth to escape drudgery and hard work, and found that they had escaped no such thing. They traded one burden for an even more hardscrabble life. OTOH, the captain successfully navigated his launch and boats over thousands of miles back to safety because of competence and skill. DJT’S rambling has no resemblance to the actual story of the Bounty.

Conservatives in 2010: Obamacare is unconstitutional! Congress can’t MAKE me buy health insurance! Why, if that were constitutional, then next Congress could make us all buy BROCCOLI!* And that would clearly be tyranny!

    Supreme Court: (nods approvingly)

Trump in 2020: I can order everyone to re-open their businesses, go back to work, and resume buying stuff!

    Conservatives: (nod approvingly)

*– It was always broccoli. I think this was tied in to their hatred of Michelle Obama, like the government was going to make you eat your veggies, and YOU CAN’T MAKE ME MOMMY! But serious conservative legal scholars really thought that the “broccoli hypothetical” was a devastating argument.

But…Screechy…he isn’t ordering us to buy broccoli! We can buy bacon cheeseburgers if we want…and yachts…and golf courses…

It’s really on a par with Dubya wanting to defeat terrorism by going shopping.

By the way, that picture, and the title, makes me want to watch Wild Strawberries…and I watched it last only a month ago.
