People have been writing that, but the books I have that have the ribbon bookmarks sewn in have them sewn into the top and hang out the bottom.

I’ve seen suggestions that the book-shaking actually began with an involuntary twitch or spasm and the shakung of the book was his attempt to hide what could be a symptom of illness, possibly a degenerative one. Whether that’s right or not I couldn’t say. I’ve watched the video several times but it’s ambiguous at best.
Another suggestion is that he’s wafting it around to cool it down because it’s burning his hand. That sounds more rational to me.
