The eagle was a Roman symbol, of course, which the Nazis adopted in their desire to be the Third Empire after the Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire. So are the Trumpers just flat out telling us that they want to be the new authoritarian/Nazi empire, or are they just so pig-ignorant of history that they don’t know what the symbolism means (however piss-poor their version looks)?
