Amid the excitement

Accounts differ. CNN’s account of how Kevin Greeson died inside the Capitol:

Greeson had a history of high blood pressure and suffered a heart attack amid the excitement, his family said in a statement to CNN. He was an advocate of Trump and attended the event to show his support.

“He was excited to be there to experience this event,” the statement said. “He was not there to participate in violence or rioting, nor did he condone such actions.”

Well that’s not true. He was inside the Capitol. He was, necessarily, participating in the violence and rioting that enabled the rioters to be inside the Capitol.

Also…

Word is he was carrying a taser the way he’s carrying those pistols, and he was trying to wrestle a painting of Tip O’Neill off the wall and accidentally tasered himself in the testicles, an oops resulting in death. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this story.

At any rate, his family doesn’t seem to have known him very well.

As bad as this spectacle was, it could have been so, so much worse.

Imagine if D.C. didn’t have the gun laws that it does. I mean, it didn’t stop a lot of these thugs from carrying handguns illegally, but it did seem to largely deter them from walking around brandishing AR-15s and the like.

Or, as someone pointed out, imagine if a hostile foreign power had embedded a few commandos in this crowd, who could take advantage of the chaos to execute a professional plan of attack. It’s entirely possible that we’d been dealing with multiple deaths in Congress, including the top three persons in the Constitutional line of succession.

Or if a quick-thinking aide hadn’t grabbed those Electoral College certifications. “Oh, looks like someone destroyed or may have tampered with the EC votes. Can’t certify the total now! Guess we’ll have to ask the state legislatures to appoint new electors, or else throw the election to Congress.”

    Screechy Monkey,

Per the Daily Mail (I know, consider the source), it could get much worse this weekend.

The Trump supporter shot dead by Capitol Hill police as she attempted to climb through a broken window into the Capitol is being hailed a martyr by online extremists who have described the bullet that killed her as, ‘the first shot in a revolution,’ DailyMail.com can reveal.

Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, 35, was killed as Trump loyalists stormed Congress Wednesday, halting President-elect Joe Biden’s confirmation with violence and destruction that left four of the mob dead and sent shockwaves around the world.

Now a murder hunt is under way for the pro-Trump rioters who killed Capitol Hill officer Brian Sicknick, who died late Thursday after apparently being hit over the head with a fire extinguisher.

But far from being chastened, ‘Stop the Steal’ conspiracy theorists, right-wing militia groups and white supremacists are ‘focused on trying to keep the energy up.’

And we can reveal that, as outrage grows over lax security that allowed protesters to breeze through police lines into the Capitol, Trump loyalists are making plans to descend on the nation’s capital once more this Saturday.

That’s the man who posted the photographs of himself sat at Pelosi’s desk with the ‘WE WILL NEVER GIVE IN’ note. Looks like his heart disagreed.

#3 No, not the same man. The guy in Pelosi’s office has been arrested.

He has a Doppelganger, or is that Magaganger? There is a certain ‘look’ to the older MAGA bunch which overlaps with the retired military/police ‘look’.
