It was the Trump people who refused to send in the National Guard. Somehow I didn’t realize that. You’d think the “National” part would be a clue, but I missed it.

    Though I lack any medical qualifications, my understanding is that surgeons when removing cancer tissue have to get every last bit of it, lest it metasticise and grow again.

    Or looking at it another way, the Constitution with its checks and balances is America’s immune system. So far, it has stood a major test; but that test is far from complete. Trump is America’s Napoleon 1; on course for his own St Helena, but by no means yet arrived. His necessary eventual arrival should be a deterrent to all wannabe others, of which there is unfortunately no shortage.
