Ever since President Joe Biden emerged as the winner of the United States’ presidential election, Fr John Zuhlsdorf has been carrying out exorcisms about what he describes as “fraud” and “lying” during the vote-counting process.
The prominent priest-blogger and President Trump supporter, also claimed that his Bishop, Donald Hying of Madison, granted him the authority to carry out the exorcism rite.
His Bishop says oh no he didn’t.
The priest-blogger did an exorcism the day before the insurrection.
“I have the permission of the bishop to say this, which increases the authority of the praying of the prayer,” he said ahead of his 5 January exorcism which he carried out in Latin. “As exorcists will confirm, the demons are very good with electronic equipment.”
And MAGA types are very good with Latin.
The priest-blogger explained his reasons before he did the exorcising.
“I think it’s amply clear, there’s enough evidence to demonstrate that there was fraud in some places, and people had to commit that fraud, it didn’t happen by itself. It seems to have been well-organised. I am deeply concerned that anyone involved in this has put their soul in terrible mortal peril,” he said.
“We have to be concerned about the people involved in this who might have lied, or who might have committed fraud, concerning this election. This is not cheating to steal the election to 5th grade class president. This is something on a whole different scale, it’s quantitatively so vastly larger, that it’s qualitatively a different kind of a situation and sin. This isn’t like going over and stealing a newspaper off your neighbour’s porch.”
What about priests who spread lies about a legitimate election? What kind of situation and sin is that?
Fr Zuhsldorf runs one of the world’s best-read Christian blogs, which offers a combination of liturgical, political and culinary commentary. With tens of millions of visitors since 2006, Fr Zuhlsdorf is a relentless critic of liberal culture and supportive of elements of Trump’s political agenda. Unsurprisingly, he is not a fan of Pope Francis, and at one point told his supporters it was not a sin to pray for the death or resignation of the Roman Pontiff.
He sounds nice.

Oh! That must be the feminine of “magus”! It all makes sense now! Mage America Great Again, with exorcisms!
Does the bishop’s premission increase the efficacy of the prayer? And how exactly do exorcists determine what effects have on electronic equipment? Do they have degrees in electrical engineering as well as divinity? Does this mean that if I’m having computer troubles I should forgo tech support and call a priest?
Is Fr. Zuhlsdorf concerned at all about Donald Trump’s soul? He’s been on the path of corruption, fraud, greed, adultery, and lying for a lot longer than the past two election cycles. Or is the good father trying to save fresher, cleaner souls, rather than waste his energies on one that is nothing but a dessicated, withered, scorched cinder?

Demons are very good with electronic equipment? That sure explains a lot, beginning with why there is smoke inside computer chips and why they stop working when it gets out.
So as to these fraud claims:
I’d always assumed that the masses just liked the lie as a means to justify them opposing a result that they don’t like, however that may not entirely be the case.
It was pointed out on the 538 podcast yesterday that many of these people probably don’t know anyone who voted for Biden or never saw a yard sign. If that’s the case and your media echo chamber just contains the liars you could come to the conclusion that the election was stolen. “Don’t believe the polls, they’re biased”

There’s an old Bill Hicks skit from the time when it was claimed musicians were embedding backwards Satanic messages in their music: “Ain’t it nice to know Satan’s keeping up with all these new, technological achievements, …what a little busy beaver he is! I picture him at a Radio Shack, every Monday morning: “What new things do you have for me today?””
This isn’t complicated. A bishop’s blessing gives a +2 bonus on all Exorcism rolls. Demons have advantage on all attacks involving electronic equipment. For further details, consult your Player’s Handbook or ask your Dungeon Master.
While there may be a lot of Trump voters in our town that never saw a Biden sign, they had to know they exist, at least if they read the paper, because there were lots of police reports and letters to the editor about the Biden signs being stolen and/or vandalized.
And they probably do know people who voted for Biden, but knew better than to tell them that. I don’t share that sort of information readily in a town awash in guns, god, and GOP.
It’s kind of like that “snowball means climate change isn’t real” territory… there’s enough of an excuse to hit the disbelieve button even if it, hah, melts away as soon as you look at the evidence.
If that’s the case I must be an angel, ‘cos I’m worse than useless with the stuff.
