Wallowing

With allies like these…

He’s “tolerated” this woman he calls a rude name because he thinks she might be of use to him, but now the time has come for him to denounce her in public, because he just can’t deny himself the fun a moment longer.

Women are so horrible. He’s so sick of seeing them “use” the abuse they have suffered, when they could be talking about him.

What a good thing he’s here to set us straight about what feminism is.

So true. Feminism is not about oppression of women, because that would be BO-ring. Feminism is not about “wallowing” in our victimhood because we need to be mopping the brows of all the suffering men, instead. How dare we use our victimhood as a weapon against…urm…well, against Mark Green when all he wants is one of the stupid bitches to offer to be his agent, for free.

No, they’re not ‘what she thinks trans beliefs are.’ It’s an attempt at reductio ad absurdum.

Some of them aren’t even that, but actually things that TRAs say. “You can’t have feminist libraries […] unless you make them truly inclusive of all underrepresented genders….” “Penises are a social construct.”

He needs to back up a step or two; instead of a literary agent, he should see if can find a woman on his feed to use as an editor.

I have my TERFy views misrepresented on Twitter every single day. People accuse me of having all sorts of terrible (and worse: incoherent) opinions and alliances as a matter of course. I’m convinced that some of the people making these assertions don’t believe them to be true beliefs held or expressed by anyone, let alone by me. The rest just don’t seem to have thought about it at all. They’re just remarks routinely made to demonise the terven in the absence of argument.

If this guy wants to talk about bad-faith arguments, I think he could look a little closer to home.

That part about tolerating the TERF while she was useful is so revealing, isn’t it? It’s both a performative but meaningless ‘sacrifice’ and an unintended admission that he values unspecified and unlikely potential gain above that sacrifice until…. he has the opportunity to give a woman a good kicking on the internet.

Never mind an editor, he needs an English teacher if he thinks, as per his opening salvo, that reading somebody’s tweets equates to listening to them.

He rather needs a twitterary agent. As Donnie Dipshit says, “Up your followers.”

If “twitterary agent” isn’t a thing already, it needs to become one. Brilliant.

latsot, it may also be that he realized she wasn’t going to snatch him up as a client, and she wasn’t helping him. So she was expendable.

Second Sackbut. Definitely need to add it to the lexicon.
