The state of what

Owen Jones pretending not to be a misogynist.

The thing about OJ is that he wants to pretend to be a feminist while still dismissing women’s concerns and protests at being appropriated or pushed aside or both by…guys like him.

    Yeah, incels don’t like trans people. And they hate women about as much as transwomen do, so they have a lot in common.

    And more than just that, since the constant obsessive complaining about lesbians refusing to have sex with a male bearing a penis but claiming to be a woman is much like the incels constant whining that women won’t go to bed with them. Neither group stops to think about why that might be; they simply blame “bitches” and “Karens” or “Stacys”.

    Just because one group of misogynists doesn’t like another group, it doesn’t mean either group is less misogynist.

    They also blame “fetishists.” As in “genital fetishists.” As in “lesbians who are only attracted to vaginas.” (Heterosexual women who are attracted to penises but who prefer them to be erect are “hydraulic fetishists.”)

    But aren’t we supposed to respect people’s fetishes? Whatever happened to being sex positive?

    @ What a Maroon;

    You just described part of the strategy involved in the SuperStraight movement: accepting that TWAW and TMAM, and then reframing both heterosexuality and homosexuality as kinks. “Because I’m not attracted to trans people, I’m not straight. I’m SuperStraight, with a fixation on genitals. So now I belong to LGBTQ+. Don’t kink shame, and allow me a safe space away from all the straight people.”

    Only partially a joke.

    Behind the curve as always.

    But finally I can claim I’m one of the oppressed! My oppression manifests itself largely in the lack of oppression I experience. I demand my right to be oppressed!

    I think it’s rich for OJ to apply the term “obsessives” to women.
