They already do. They should play in the correct sex class for fairness. Why don't you campaign for the men's category to be Open so anyone can participate and keep the women's category unchanged for fairness? Bruce [#4] — i don’t know you.,or where you’re coming from, so possibly you were joking about the age..but 45+ as an evener is a joke. If we were to stage a current BobbyRiggs/BKing match with, say, Federer or Djokovic when they’re 45, arguably they would destroy current top women. That would be true over a wide range of sports. Training is just much, much better as pro careers can become longer. Aside, of course, for the greater tendency of Male Masters to get caught using performance enhancing drugs.
At a personal level, both I and my wife have competed in aerobic sports off and on for decades and for the past couple decades in age-group races at state, and occasionally regional or national levels. I’m nearly a decade older than my wife, but have about 6″ height and 40-50 pounds lean weight on her.. She has had coaching for the past 20 years, works harder, and has better technique, but I’m still faster than she is.
I could go on, but the point I want to make is that there is no easy work-around in most sports that can improve on the binary [biological] Women and Open categories.
