Of the girl!!

Aha, a festival for International Day of the Girl.

What is Shona?

Nice, so all this is about empowering girls. Fair play to them.

So much for empowering girls and International Day of the Girl.

Updating to add: There’s another one, because of course there is.

It seems she is a woman, but considers herself too special and interesting to be called a woman.

‘I think I might be genderqueer, or non-binary,” I said to my kids. They looked nonplussed. “I might have a hard time not calling you Mum,” one replied, “But I’ll try.”

“I’ll always be Mum,” I assured her.

But I’ll be Mum who is too special to be called a woman.

I wonder what percentage of the speakers are men. Yes, I know, even one is too much (unless — possibly — he makes no claims of being a woman, and just gives some speech about, I dunno, what it was like to raise his daughters). Nonetheless, if 40% of the speakers are men, it’s far more obnoxious than if just 1% of the speakers are men.

    “Fashion activism”?

    “Living authentically” via fashion?

    Fuck this faux feminism.

I swear to god, it’s like Nazi Germany if non-Jews and a handful of real Jews dressed up as Der Sturmer caricatures and went on about how it was the authentic Jewish experience and then told the assimilated German Jews they were doing it wrong. Not sure what the difference would’ve been but it couldn’t have helped…

“Fashion activism and living authentically in a world that demands homogeneity” said the woman in a frilly pink dress. Not as bad as a man calling himself a woman, but still, does she even know how badly this clashes with what she is talking about? How can she not??

“Fashion activism” or “fashism” for short.

“I’m still your mum, but not really sure if I’m a woman or not. I don’t really know what I am, but I do know that I’m some kind of queerish gender spectrum floater. Listen, I still like dressing girly, but sometimes I just want to put on work jeans and a chambry shirt and go muddin’ in a 4×4 with a big chaw between my gums and cheek.”

    “okay, we’ll try.”

Sara Phillips. I thought that face was familiar.

A transgender advocacy group that has received more than €1 million in state grants has deleted the online biography of its long-serving chairwoman after questions were asked about her accountancy qualifications.

The Transgender Equality Network Ireland (Teni) took down details about its chairwoman Sara Phillips after this newspaper queried whether she was a chartered accountant.

Not a woman. Not a pirate, either.
