    Best Sci.Amer. ever! But give some credit to The Onion, which some years back devoted a big article to the American airdrop of vowels onto Serbia and Croatia, who were undergoing serious suffering because of their absence. Luckily American compassion saved the day for the deprived Slavic populations. We should never be stingy about foreign aid.

    Lorna, The Serbs and Croats should learn from the Finns. They economise on smalltalk to whatever degree is necessary that they can remain self-sufficient in umlauts.
