Dear Sandy

Ouch. That’s gotta sting.

I particularly like “Perhaps you should reframe your trauma.”

I think “Dear Sandy” should become the instantly recognizable label for a decisive, lethal retort.

I’ve recently seen quite a bit of this tactic of appealing to pity to avoid criticism for a job poorly (or horrifically) done. Sony just lost something like $400 million on a failed game, and several of the developers involved have tried to get people to shut up about it by framing any critique as cruelty, deploying familiar phrases like “emotional labor”.

You weren’t ever going to respond to women’s concerns unless someone high profile challenged you.

Finally, you’ve decided to respond publicly to one of the women with concerns – me.

Dear Mr. Musk; here’s how to use the power and influence conferred by wealth.

    …conferred by wealth…

Earned wealth. JKR’s daddy didn’t own an emerald mine, or a real estate empire.

What I mean by that, is that guys like Musk and Trump know nothing of struggle or suffering. They can’t relate. They think it’s as easy for everyone as it has been for them. This is why they have very little if any compassion for anyone, and are only concerned with selfishly playing the wealth/power game. Their worlds revolve around their delicate egos.

Yes, an important point. Musk may have earned his massive wealth but he grew up to the manner born. Rowling wrote the first HP novel on benefits. It’s not about cleverness it’s about understanding of the world and the people in it, something which Musk will never have.
