Girl, 10

Hmm.

I disputed something trans activist mushy crouton said the other day.

I didn’t bother to say we don’t “celebrate” the kid’s unhappiness, because of course we don’t; that’s just typical hyperbole plus assumption. I simply underlined for the billionth time that things for girls are for girls. A 10-year-old who identifies as a transgender girl is a boy. (I wonder if that subhead is even accurate. Does the boy really idennify as a transgender girl as opposed to as a girl? Or did the Mirror just put it that way in an attempt to clarify the usual murk?)

Mushy responded with the usual fairness and restraint.

Oh no!!! What have I done?!?

Pause for laughter.

Is the child going to know about it? No. If the child did know about it, would the child react to it the way mushy did? No. Does the child understand this whole thing the way mushy does? No. Do children understand any of this the way adults do? No. Is mushy on the side of the angels in flattering and encouraging the transing of children? No times a million.

We are under no obligation to take part in the fantasy lives or religious beliefs of other people.

It is reprehensible (and should be criminal) that adults have foisted this delusion on this child. No child would come up with this idea if it hadn’t been suggested by an adult, because transgender ideology (like the Catholic “mystery” of Transubstantiation) is an “adult” idea, in that it requires massive amounts of intellectual obfuscation and murky metaphysics and straight mendacity in order to buttress it against exposure as the complete twaddle it is. If adults want to engage in this pointless journey to nowhere themselves, that’s one thing, but to rope children into it is just evil. Just dangling the possibility of his joining the Girl Scouts (not to mention past policies which would have permitted it) is cruel, adult trickery.* These children have been turned into pawns in a game they don’t even know they’re playing. It’s like recruiting them to become slow-motion suicide bombers for transgenderism, turning these children into unwilling and unwitting martyrs for a cause that’s beyond their ken.

*Add to that the deliberate ruination of opportunities and spaces for girls for extra sadism. If Girl Guides is supposed help these girls prepare for life, it’s doing a bang-up job of showing them that females have no worth or value, except as “validation” for boys who’ve been brainwashed into believing they are girls. Well done. Slow clap. I feel so sorry, and angry, for those girls trapped in the “splinter groups” that have formed for the sole purpose of retaining boys. This through the machinations of adults who should know better, adults who should be protecting them, rather than sacrificing them. By doing this, they belittle and humiliate honest-to-goodness, actual flesh-and-blood young, female human beings. Because that’s what is happening, and what will happen. It’s not as if these girls aren’t already soaking in misogyny already, let’s up the concentration and reduce the number of places they might have a chance of escaping its constant, corrosive influence. Get them while they’re young. Let us have the girl, and we’ll show you the kind, submissive, obedient, self-censoring, self-abnegating, self-sacrificing woman, the perfect backdrop and support for the real heroes, those brave few who have the strength, courage, and determination to rise above the injustice of the limits of biology to become women by choice. This is the part that transactivists never admit or acknowledge in the course of their zero-sum intrusion into female only spaces.

    You are misgendering a CHILD

Ophelia is, of course, perfectly capable of speaking for herself, but when I use words like “man” and “woman”, “boy” and “girl”, “male” and “female”, “he” and “she” etc.,it can’t be “misgendering” for the simple reason that it’s not “gendering” at all. It’s (almost always correct) sexing.

The only way he/him here can defend the inclusion of a biological male in a group for girls is by gendering the latter, in other words by assuming they are “girls” in the Genderspeak sense (i.e. non-adults who think or feel in certain ways best left unspecified, are in possession of an invisible, undetectable, undefinable, indescribable, inexplicable, inscrutable female soul or essence etc. ). I don’t think he has a basis for that.

I don’t believe that’s entirely true. I believe that since long before transgenderism was invented there have been little boys who imagined they were really girls, or little girls who imagined they were really boys. The difference is that long ago parents would tell them that’s a silly idea, just like thinking they are cats or ponies or puppies is a silly idea. And they would grow out of it. But today such misguided little boys and girls are taken with the utmost seriousness.

In some states, it is even the law that such misguided childhood fantasies must be given credence… for now. The Supreme Court, in an 8-1 decision, has begun to throw those laws out.

This is wot comes from letting your crouton brain get mushy. His helpful/pushy/performative inclusion of pronouns is just a further manifestation of that mush.

If my opinion were asked, I would reply that “misgendering” is silly since gender is not the same as sex, and if you identified a boy as a boy even though he wants to be a girl, then that’s not on you. It’s on the adults who are shepherding these beliefs onto children.

When I first read this, I thought “mushy crouton” was a deliciously nasty insult.

    Then I saw the @.

Of course it doesn’t follow that all, or even most, kids who hold such ideas today arrived at them spontaneously (and hence would have held them even without the element of indoctrination or social contagion)…

Regardless of whether or not children are acquainted with the concept of gender identity, I wouldn’t say that they spontaneously arrive at such ideas.

As in, if a boy thinks he must be a girl since he likes unicorns and isn’t good at math, it’s pretty clear he didn’t come up with those associations on his own. “Gender identity” is just a more explicit framing for ideas we’re already putting in children’s heads.
