Take it away

More pointless ego-driven vandalism:

The Kennedy Center took down Wednesday a sculpture known as Blue, the latest change to the cultural and performing arts center that stirred some pushback in President Donald Trump’s second term.

The sculpture, a tall, blue stick figure poised in action — as if to kick a ball or, from a different angle, having just kicked one — was designed by sculptor Joel Shapiro and installed in 2019.

Why? The AP doesn’t say; I’m guessing that’s because no one has said.

“We are deeply grateful to Joel Shapiro for the years Blue has spent animating our campus and connecting visitors to his vision,” the Kennedy Center said in an emailed statement. “We are honored to have been stewards of his vibrant work and a part of his enduring legacy.”

Therefore we’re getting rid of it.

He’ll demolish the Smithsonian next.

He’s already tried to commandeer all the Smithsonians, telling them what they can or cannot say or display.

I saw video that they took the sculpture down in pieces. Did they return it to the donor? Did they send the pieces to the landfill? Did DJT say why they removed the sculpture?

I’m waiting for the bulldozers to show up any time now, and just tear the building down; present the courts with a fait accompli.

I suspect that it’s going to show up in a donor’s garden at some point. Several top-ranking Nazis ended up with nice little stashes of confiscated “degenerate art”.
