Preemptively

Trump’s DoJ wants to help him interfere with the elections in order to prevent a Dem majority.

The Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska’s Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses his tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola next month.

It doesn’t get much starker than that.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court Thursday, department officials described the candidacy of a third contender in the race — another Republican named Dan J. Sullivan Jr. — as a bid to mislead supporters of Sen. Sullivan into voting for the wrong candidate.

They asked a federal judge to bar the state from certifying the race’s results, should the senator lose by a margin less than the number of votes his same-named challenger receives. In that scenario, the department said, the court should investigate whether that result was tainted by voter confusion.

The move marked a highly unusual bid by the Justice Department to potentially intervene in the outcome of a race that could determine control of the Senate before the election has occurred.

Yeah that’s highly unusual all right. Not in a good way.

Here is a video on different ways of organizing elections, and the merits and demerits of such things as, first past the post, ranked choice, etc.

Okay, but since the Republican Sullivan won his primary, and is in the final race, and Democratic Sullivan did not…there should not be a problem. Either people could tell the difference, or Republican Sullivan got helped. There is no reason for someone to confuse the nominees from the parties.

But – Trump is determined, and desperate.

iknklast, both Sullivans are Republican. Dan J. is running as a third candidate.

What I can’t get my head around is why two Republicans are running against each other, because that is almost guaranteed to split the R. vote.

AoS, yes, it’s as though this were a deliberate plan to ratfuck the election.

Conspiracy theory – R’s ran two guys with the SAME NAME deliberately so they would have a reasonable ground to challenge/overturn an unfavourable result. It’s a wedge strategy.
