He called his bus the Lolita Line

Even more of This Kind of Thing.

One, he’s male. Two, women bus drivers do not, repeat DO NOT dress like that. Ever. They wear uniform, and they do not wear skirts. Wearing a skirt as a bus driver would be extremely awkward and risky. A lot of physical jobs just plain require pants/trousers, because of the physical part. Skirts are not on the menu at all.

Two, oh get out of here. Teeny pink dress? Kink stockings gartered above the knees? Pink shoosies? Get tf out of here. Trans shmans; get out.

That’s a fetishized-and-frilled-up variation of a Japanese school uniform. A sexualized schoolgirl costume. He clearly shouldn’t be anywhere near schoolgirls.

It will be interesting to see how his case goes. Whether any trans activists distance themselves from him or publicly condemn him. (I doubt it.) Or whether the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal gets its shit together and rejects his claim. (I suspect it won’t. It has an abysmal track record on “trans” controversies.)

It’s also interesting how the case is being covered by the media, even on the right. (The National Post is a right-wing publication.)

It’s unclear whether this individual is mentally ill, simply engaging in a stunt to take advantage of an overzealous, unaccountable human rights system, or something else altogether. No rational adult would show up to a job with proximity to kids in a skimpy costume and a reference to a novel about the sexual abuse of a child by a middle-aged man … and then revive the controversy by engaging in lawfare.

While it’s not impossible that this could be a stunt, it’s far more likely that it’s just male paraphilic behaviour. I chafe at lines like, “No rational adult would…” because it misses the point: male extreme sexual behaviour is completely irrational by nature: it’s men’s limbic animal instincts completely overtaking their impulse controls. Sometimes the resultant behaviour appears so strange it seems unbelievable. Like with the other notorious Ontario school incident from a few years ago — the shop teacher with the gigantic fake breasts — people struggled to believe that he wasn’t pulling a stunt to make a point. But by all accounts he wasn’t. He was so consumed by his paraphilia that he’d lost the ability to control his behaviour in public.

This is how it goes. Some men fixate on their desires until they reach a point that they can’t control themselves anymore. Society needs to prevent men reaching this point in the first place, and it needs to ensure that when they do go off the deep end, they can’t endanger others. And I think we’d all be better off if we understood how it works. At the very least, the Human Rights Tribunal ought to know!
