We didn’t have a naughty step when I was a kid. I just got told “get out of my sight”. That wasn’t a punishment at all, it just gave me a free pass to go and maraud about the place, which is what I was usually planning to do anyway. Or I was sent to my room… that place with all the books in it. I don’t think my parents ever really got the hang of punishing me.
