I still get annoyed when people, usually journalists, don’t use ‘begging the question’ and ‘refute’ correctly and there’s the infuriating ‘green grocer’s apostrophe’.

My pet peeve is when people use “fewer” with uncountable nouns. As peeves go, you might think it’s not very good: nobody ever says “fewer stuff” or “fewer luggage”. But when they do – ha ha! – I’ll be there, ready to feel superior.
