Masks optional
Even as more of his campaign staffers test positive for coronavirus, Trump is still scheduled to hold a campaign event in Phoenix, Arizona, tomorrow.
The president will speak at a “Students for Trump” event at the Dream City Church in Phoenix, despite Arizona seeing a rise in its number of coronavirus cases.
In a video, two of the church’s leaders said they have installed cutting-edge technology that “kills 99.9% of Covid within 10 minutes.”
Oh yes? What “technology” is that exactly? Why isn’t it being installed everywhere?
These two fellas explain it. It’s ionization. Or ionizidation. The one guy isn’t quite sure. Anyway it cleans out all the particulates and the virus can’t live in that. They said so. Thank god for technology, they also said. (So why didn’t god give us the technology back in October?)
They’re very upbeat about the whole thing.
That crude old technology of wearing masks won’t be mandatory though. Whew! Freedom freedom freedom freedom.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said on Sunday that the city’s policy requiring face masks to be worn in public will not be enforced during President Donald Trump’s upcoming event at a Valley megachurch…
She added that she is hopeful Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey — who will attend the event — will take the opportunity to set an example regarding mask usage.
Well that’s good enough. Just hope. Just hope the governor will set an example, and hope people will wear them even though they don’t have to, and hope no one catches the virus, and hope the event won’t cause a huge spike in cases. Just hope. Maybe say a little prayer.
“We would hope that our governor … can send a strong message,” she said. “He believes in masks and he could be a great spokesman for telling the young people who are there to wear masks. But the best spokesman would be the president — if he told everyone at that rally it was important to wear masks, I believe they would do it.”
But it has to be voluntary. The city won’t be enforcing the policy, it will just be hoping people set a good example. That’s responsible and wise and adult.
“Dream City Church” – is that an amusement park or a collection of carnival tents or what. There’s a lot of ionization happening here with all the rain, but it hasn’t eliminated Covid yet. Maybe it needs to happen in a “megachurch” where there is high tech and god’s will. Ridiculous.
Yes, I just learned that my school “can’t” require mask wearing. The students will be free to breathe on anyone they please, and no one can say no. Seriously? Of course they “can”. UNL is doing it. What they mean is they “won’t” and the faculty will be asked to teach students who are going about their life as if there is no dangerous virus killing people, and the faculty, many of whom are high risk, will be subjected to all this virus. We’re not even getting ionization. Just Clorox (whoops, no, we can’t have that either, because a couple of years ago a student mixed it improperly and suffered lung damage, so rather than teaching employees how NOT to mix an acid and a base, they are just forbidding Clorox or any similar products.
Our school will be a paradise for little virus critters.

That’s an awful lot of contagion time. If the person next to me coughs into my open mouth (yes, I’m a mouth breather or I wouldn’t be at a Trump rally) how is that magic machine going to extract whatever my body has already ingested?
Here is a technology that looks likely to be helpful, but I don’t think they are claiming 99.9% in 10 minutes. Maybe if we use it plus masks we can make R<1 without having lock downs.

Maybe in addition they could respectfully ask God why the hell he had to go and invent the damned Covid-19 virus in the first place. What a dopey idea!. Maybe a suggestion to God as well that he revise that dopey decision, with allowance that it was probably made in a hurry. After all, there are prayers coming in from billions of Christians, Jews and Muslims just on this planet, with a a possible 10^24 other planets like this one scattered through this Universe.
No wonder so many of them never get answered. God must be run off his feet 24/7.
