I like the way Tatchell stated an opening position and then undid it in the immediately ensuing sentences.
Premise: “Trans women… there’s no real scientific evidence that they have an advantage.” No real evidence of advantage! What evidence there is is fake!
Next sentence begins: “What science there is is disputed…” – Small oops. So there is a dispute over the evidence within science. It may be that one side is calling the other side’s evidence fake / not real, but still a small admission that there is some claim in science to the contrary.
That sentence continues: “…and the degree of advantage is very minimal.” Big oops – an admission that there is in fact an advantage. He calls it very minimal, but still an advantage and a far cry from his claim that there is no evidence of one.
Sigh, and then the rest of his case is that women vary and why aren’t we categorising them on the basis of allllllll those differences?? FFS.
“But athletic people have an advantage over couch potatoes!” And thus, all sport was abolished for being unfair and non-inclusive. The end.
And why are all those music departments excluding people who can’t sing? I identify as a singer, and I demand to be admitted. The fact that no one can stand to hear me sing (except my terrier) is just amusicphobia.
You’re right, Iknklast. This goes much further than I thought – We’ll have to do with away with all methods of comparing or ranking abilities, in all areas of everything. Job interviews? Eww, bigotry! Try job lotteries instead. Qualifications, talent, experience – in the glorious new world, none of these will be taken into account, no matter how important the job – ah, wait…
