No wait, he’s quit
Steve Bannon has resigned from his role as White House chief strategist, ABC News has learned.
A source close to Bannon told ABC News the resignation was effective Aug. 14, exactly one year after he joined the Trump campaign.
“White House chief of staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day. We are grateful for his service and wish him the best,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement to ABC News.
The alt-right invasion will begin at midnight.
Note to GOP-USA: Bannon was one of yours just like Trump is. If you still consider yourself a Republican, you do not get to disavow him. You remain shameless for the bigotry, racism, and misogyny you enable.
Which all goes to prove, I know absolutely nothing. I was sure Bannon was safe. I should have realized the truth of Trump’s campaign which is nobody is safe unless they’re family. And I find myself wondering now if Kushner is as safe as he thinks he is…
But as my husband just said to me, this changes nothing really. Trump hasn’t been under a spell and now the evil Grima Wormtongue Bannon has been ejected, Trump isn’t going to emerge like King Theoden, blinking in the sunlight and wondering what happened. Trump and Bannon associated because like attracts like. It’s true to say that we are defined by the company we choose to keep.
Tony Schwartz is doing the rounds telling everyone he thinks Trump will resign. I honestly can’t imagine it myself. But then I couldn’t imagine Bannon getting booted either. This is like some crazy late-season TV drama where they’re on the bubble of getting canned and they start throwing in crazy storylines to try and keep the audience hooked. It’s gonna crash and burn. But all bets are off as to how and when it does.
Interesting days ahead, as if they weren’t interesting enough.
This could be the start of a great schism tearing through the Freakshow Right. Not sure if I will be able to figure out which side to cheer against the loudest. Will need lots of popcorn though.
