The same anti-feminists who harassed, threatened, and intimidated women at the opening of the Vancouver Women’s Library last Friday came back last night and vandalized the building, which is a space shared by many local artists and artisans. These people are not only harming the library, as irrational and hateful as that is in and of itself, but they are jeopardizing the livelihoods of dozens and dozens of people, many of whom are working class and/or marginalized people.
Old school lefties used to call this kind of thing adventurism. By now it’s more like adventure tourism. It’s not any kind of politics, it’s just a pretext for being noisy belligerent assholes and, best of all, bullying women. It is disgusting.
“Class war” is more telling than they expected it to be.
Nah, it’s just a slogan they’ve heard used and like the sound of. The message matters less than the aesthetic impact.
The people who did this presumably felt pleased with themselves afterwards. Perhaps they high-fived each other in celebration of a job well done. Meanwhile the women who run the place would have had to spend the day (at least) cleaning the place up. It’s demoralising and of course that’s the point. It’s more of the horribly familiar shut-up tactic at work. Destroy, demoralise, deamean and for what?
They’d prefer a library not to exist if they imagine they’re not personally allowed to use it, apparently regardless of whether that’s actually the case. They think they get to demand what books are and are not in someone else’s library. They’re invited into the library despite protesting against it because the staff feel sorry for them as it’s cold outside. They proceed to rip down posters, shout, bully and try to prevent women from entering the library. Then they – if it was the same people – come back and spray paint the walls.
And they seem to think they have the moral high ground.

Hmmm. Sounds a lot like the Christians marching into public libraries quivering with indignation because someone discovered an LGBTQ friendly book on the shelves, or found out the library had books about evolution from a scientific perspective.
I guess dogma is dogma, and always has to tell other people what to think.
Dogma, or maybe catma? Or catpa, in case they’re gender- as well as species fluid. Well, everybody has an asshole (unless they’re really primitive organisms; and haven’t appropriated one yet). Still no need to be one.
Is this all the Tall Loud Person, and their personal entourage? So many of the trans-troll incidents seem to hinge around one or two crackpots, who can gather a few gullible followers.

Well, my cat has paws, if that’s what you mean. ;-) I don’t know if she’s gender fluid; I’m waiting for her to announce her gender. Meanwhile, I arbitrarily choose to address her with the pronoun that fits her biological sex at birth. She doesn’t answer to that, but she doesn’t answer to any other pronoun, either. She’s a cat. She has no reason to answer a mere mortal human.
