Look at that pile of dingoes’ kidneys. The Shutdown; the Strong Border Security movement; our Southern Border. It’s the letter of a childish idiot but they publish it as if it were the Gettysburg Address.
Does he have the authority? Is that actually part of his duty as president, to decide which Congresspeople go where? That sounds fishy to me.
IANAL, let alone an expert on American Government. I understood the military were currently funded – therefore the shutdown doesn’t affect funding for the plane and related costs. The President has constitutional responsibility for foreign relations, but the purpose was to visit US troops. Apart from the very obvious tit for tat aspect, this doesn’t seem justifiable even on shutdown grounds.
I note that the White House has now said all such WH and Congressional/Government trips will be cancelled, but it seems a number of upcoming trips for the Executive Branch are still scheduled to go ahead.
iknklast, the trip was to use military aircraft, so as C.I.C. he can refuse the use of them. He did tell Pelosi that she was free to fly commercial – on her own dime, of course as it was, according to Trump, just a P.R. excercise. He has no legitimate reason to stop her going so he reverts to not letting her play with ‘his’ toys.
Such concern for the great American workers! Let us remember that this is Trump’s shutdown. He has owned it.
