Just one small problem – no L.
Is this true, @BBCPride @Inter_MediaUK? That you're having a high-profile LGBT panel but with no lesbians? If it is true, would any organiser or speaker like to comment on why they think it's OK to leave lesbians out of this conversation, and to allow others to speak for them?

I now make it a practice, if ever asked into a panel on LGBT questions, to say “Who are the lesbian participants?” It shouldn’t be necessary. This is SHAMEFUL.

Well it is very easy to forget lesbians. The L is alllllllll the way at the beginning of LGBT so by the time you’ve gotten to the T, you’ve simply forgotten all about the L.
So they found a Lesbian in time? Was she behind one of those “In case of emergency, break glass” thingies?

Ah, but there’s more to it than that. Have a care for the organizers of this event: they had to find an Emergency Lesbian whose name did not appear on the Official, Inquisitorial List of Persona Non-Platformed. They now have to wait and see if their chosen Emergency Lesbian will say anything on THEIR platform that gets THEM in trouble with the bats wrapped in barbwire brigade. Nothing against her, but a quick look at Sophie WilkINson’s Twitter feed looks like she might indeed be a safe choice for them. Judging by her profile photo, she’s young, (so not a Second Waver) with nothing too incendiary posted, or anything that could be suspected of being gender critical that I could see. No posts that I could see, for example, about trans athletes taking podium positions from women and girls. She might surprise, though, so there may be hope…At least the organizers had the courtesy to not choose one of these newly-minted transwomen “lesbians” who extoll the virtues of Lady Dick.

Quite different. If you’re in need of an Emergency Lesbian, it means people have ignored the warnings of the Protective Dyke, and I think that’s certainly the case here. The Emergency Lesbian usually has much sharper edges…
