Ford v Trump

Trump went to Capitol Hill to have lunch with the Republicans, and guess what he didn’t wear.

But his long run of not-mask wearing may be about to hit a wall.

Trump is scheduled to tour a Ford Motors plant in Michigan tomorrow, and the company has said it will require him to wear a mask for the visit.

That should be interesting.

Through his disdain for mask-wearing, Trump puts his inner self and beliefs on open display for all to see. He clearly believes that he is bullet-proof, or more precisely, virus-proof. As of 19 May there were “4,817,105 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University data. The death toll stands at 318,775. US deaths, the highest worldwide, passed 90,000, and the number of cases climbed above 1.5m.” (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/19/coronavirus-latest-at-a-glance-)

Well, there are a number of ways that can play out, and with Trump not even banged up in the county jail. Well, not in all of them, anyway. (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/may/19/will-donald-trump-end-up-in-prison-arwa-mahdawi)

I’m hoping that everyone else there is wearing an Obama mask.

What are the seating and serving arrangements for this lunch? Who can wear a mask while actually ingesting food or drink? Why is anyone having a group lunch?

maddog1129, my husband is being required to wear a mask to his dental appointment. I am quite curious to see how they do a teeth cleaning with a mask. I’m not too stressed about my eye appointment with mask, since I don’t cover my eyes with it.

“My feeling is that this is becoming more of a statement, a statement of solidarity. By going out and wearing a face mask you show that you are taking action, you show other people you are concerned about this, you are concerned about them, you are concerned about yourself. But perhaps conversely by not wearing a face mask that is also a statement as well,” said Kolstoe, pointing to a recent Politico article with the headline “Wearing a mask is for smug liberals. Refusing to is for reckless Republicans.”

Dr Simon Kolstoe, senior lecturer in evidence-based healthcare and university ethics adviser at the University of Portsmouth,

Going by that, Trump does not give a damn for safety: his own of that of others. I suppose that makes sense, as long as he keeps taking his antimalarial chlorowhatyoumaycallit and swigging antiseptic straight from the bottle.
