Good job GOP – that picture above w the flag. 4 years and 600,000 dead to prevent some asshat from doing in 1865 what you allowed to happen yesterday.

Pliny, they more than allowed it; they encouraged it.

Have you seen the WH release of what is the closest Trump will get to conceding to Biden. It’s….well……not a concession, but the bit I’ve highlighted made me laugh a lot.

Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!

My husband was reading somewhere that Trump is the first president in a long time (I don’t remember how long) that lost the presidency, the house, and the senate in one election. I’m not sure it really counts, since they didn’t technically lose the house, they just didn’t gain it back.

Yeah, by that standard, George HW Bush would qualify — in 1992, he lost the presidency, and the Dems retained control of the House and Senate. Ditto for Gerald Ford and Herbert Hoover. Yet Carter in 1980 wouldn’t qualify, but only because the Democrats could hang on to their majority in the House despite losing 35 seats.

It’s just a weird metric to apply. As much as I’d like to say that Trump is a loser of historical proportions, the facts just don’t bear it out.

“Trump is a loser of historical proportions”

I’m pretty sure there are plenty of reasons that would justify calling him that ;)

Yeah, Screechy, I thought it seemed odd, but I hadn’t had time to process. Thanks for the info.

Trump does still have some aces up his sleeve when it comes to being a loser of historic proportion. Some records and firsts he holds… Trump:

    – was the first president to be impeached and garner less than unanimous support from his own party in his defence.

    – holds the record for the highest number of criminal convictions secured against his administration members – by a lot.

    – is possibly the first president to be elected while losing the popular vote who then went on to lose his re-election attempt.

    – is very likely the first to pay $3M for a county recount only for the recount to give his opponent extra votes.

    – probably holds the record for the number of litigations directed against him, and in particular is very likely the record holder for the number of sexual assault claims against him.

    – is possibly the first to never have ‘above water’ popularity for his entire tenure.

I’m sure there are more in that vein.

Holms, I think he’s also our first orange president, and possibly the first to invent a word that had no basis in the English language. Things like normalcy may have been invented words, but they were based in real words. Covfefe, on the other hand, is just…Trumpian.
