We’ve got to talk AROUND them

Helen Joyce NAILS it. No we can’t have dialogue, no we can’t get together for a good searching conversation that will lead to a truce, no we can’t split the difference, we just have to win, that’s all.

It’s basically what I’ve been arguing ever since I realized how literally they now take TWAW. No matter what the issue with transwomen — violence, testosterone levels, privilege, etc etc — if you would not exclude all female members of a country or race for it, you can’t exclude transwomen.

The “compromise” position is that neither “cis natal women” nor transwomen will argue that they’re the superior women. The transwomen are graciously conceding that.

I did see a quote from a trans woman a while ago claiming to be more authentic than a biological woman because they had chosen to become a woman.

gary, I’ve also seen posts where transwomen have claimed to be more authentic because natal women don’t look or act like women anymore. If that’s not clear evidence that they are thinking in stereotypes, I don’t know what is.

Being a “good woke liberal”, I spent months trying to figure out how these two sides could meet. I concluded that there was just a fundamental conflict, so one side is going to have to lose.

I suspect that a trans-women TERF would be fine, since she would know to stay out of the ladies room and such.

I’ve seen posts by women claiming that transwomen are better women than they themselves are. I recall noting that one such post was in reference to a drag queen, a guy with a day job as a man and a female persona he puts on for performances and for activism.

McWhorter has said much the same about “antiracists”… that you can’t reason with religious people and must make progress in spite of them.

Oh, sure there’s a compromise, as such. Acknowledge that for transwomen, a male prison is going to be a particularly nasty slice of hell, and agree to set up additional facilities for them–not put them into women’s prisons, but arrange for alternate housing entirely, for those who request it. That’s the compromise position–everyone gets the safest possible prison environment, and predators are kept as far as possible from their prey of choice.

I suspect that, without the possibility of being housed among women, the number of male prisoners who suddenly “discover” they are trans will go down.
