I think it’s just a plea hearing.
Right. I think it is just arraignment on the charge.
Being just an arraignment doesn’t really change anything. She was arrested and brought to court to be arraigned on the basis of saying men aren’t women. And for tweeting a picture of a suffrage ribbon.
Even an arraignment hearing can ruin people’s lives. I don’t know about in Scotland, but in the US, merely being charged with something will lose a person a lot, because in spite of our innocent-until-proven-guilty trope, most people I know assume there is guilt or there would not have been an arrest.
