NOW “reminds” us that men need access to abortion
I remember when the National Organization for Women was an organization for women. Seems like only yesterday.
When will this childish shit stop. Yes of course women are the only people who need access to abortion care. Men don’t need it because men don’t get pregnant. (There’s plenty to say about how abortion rights benefit men too, but that’s a different subject, and not what NOW means.) Women need access to abortion and women need a lot of other things too. The fight has not been won. It is not time to move on from feminism and give the men who want to pretend to be women a chance.
Hold on. If some of the people that can get pregnant and have abortions are “not women”, then why does our feminism need to care about them? Isn’t feminism for women?
(Of course the answer is that all those people actually are women, as evidenced by the fact that they have gotten pregnant.)
What are they smoking at the National Organization for Men (NOM — appropriate for the ideology that ate everything)? You’re bonkers if you think that anyone other than a woman needs abortion services. It’s THE defining characteristic of being a woman: which reproductive function does your body have?
[Butterworth gasp.]We’re all supposed to fiercely, fervently, earnestly believe that this is not true. We are supposed to dutifully repeat the mantras and forget everything we ever knew about biology. We must smile and nod and be kind.
I take some small comfort in the fact that if what they’re saying was widely believed, they wouldn’t have to keep issuing their “timely reminders.” At the same time, constant repetition is the chief method of the Big Lie. So there’s that.
If not a single female had ever identified as anything other than a “woman”, speaking of abortion as a “women’s” issue would still be thought crime though*. There is no way to get to a conclusion like “only women can get pregnant” or “only women need abortions” unless you know the difference between a biological female and a biological male (and which of these labels is part of the definition of “woman”), precisely what we’re not allowed to know according to gender ideology.
*And if not a single male had ever identified as a “woman”, we wouldn’t be having this ridiculous conversation in the first place.
…because if you know that, then you also know who is not a “woman”, which is of course what this whole shitstorm is all about.
Anytime someone starts off a tweet or other public announcement with something like “This is an important and timely reminder…”, my inclination is to stop reading right there. Just fucking say what you want to say, and stop with all this self-aggrandizing bullshit! Especially if you only have 280 (or whatever) characters to say it in.
