There’s that heart-over-head thing again. Heartwashing. Guy purports to be a critical thinker and a humanist, but his heart has been captured by the idea that “transgender” means something like “innocent vulnerable extra-super-duper-LGBT victims of social injustice in need of protection” and his heart absolutely will not allow even the most straightforwardly reasonable statement that might challenge his belief to be processed by his thinking mind. “High ranking doctors are blowing the whistle that young autistic and gay people are being harmed” should be something to pay serious attention to, but this guy is emotionally bound to the other side, and now he’s stuck there for the foreseeable future.
But then again, given that it’s disproportionately young gays & lesbians being harmed by this, and his heart still won’t take notice, perhaps his beliefs about transgender aren’t so much about caring about LGBT people, but rather more along the lines that he desires very badly to be seen as Good, and that means standing behind whatever the causes du jour supposedly are.

Someone told me this bro used to be one of the Young Turks. (Can’t be arsed to look him up, but someone here might know for sure.)
I looked him up. Looks like he’s been doing The Humanist Report for some time, and did collaborate with Cenk Uygur on some work with TYT in 2017, but was not actually a part of their regular staff.
