    A male body gives advantage over women in most sports, but the male-body advantage is levered in sports like volleyball and basketball where vertical reach [height PLUS leaping power] is crucial. The difference in reach — both on offense [spiking] and defense [blocking] is huge, and is reflected in the rules of the sport, specifically in the height of the net. For indoor volleyball, men [high school and up] play with an 8-foot net [7’11 5/8 inch], women play with a 7 inch shorter net [7’4 1/8″] That’s huge — and something to keep in mind when you see the viral video of a high school girl being drilled by a trans-woman competitor’s spike.
