Martina Navratilova Says Transgender Women Can’t Be Lesbians
Well of course they fucking can’t. Frying pans can’t be owls, cities can’t be paella, we could go on like this forever.

Martina Navratilova, the renowned out tennis star, recently sparked controversy with her remarks on a tribute by Stonewall, a leading LGBTQ+ advocacy group in the U.K. Navratilova took to social media on Tuesday to voice her opposition to the inclusion of a transgender woman in Stonewall’s Lesbian Visibility tribute, bluntly writing, “a bloke cannot be a lesbian.”
Oooh how rude of her to be so blunt.
But we have to these days, don’t we. We’re surrounded by mystifications about who is what.
The former athlete continued her troubling commentary, “No matter what they say, no matter how they feel, no matter how much they try to convince us otherwise. A bloke≠ a lesbian.”
Troubling shmoubling. News flash: it’s a million times more troubling that formerly LGB outlets are now scolding people for not pretending that bloke over there is a laydee. What does lesbian or gay or straight even mean if people are not allowed to know which people are which sex?
She made the assertions in response to a video by Stonewall that promoted diversity and inclusion of lesbians from diverse backgrounds, including transgender women who identify as lesbians.
Yeeah that’s cute but a man claiming to be a lesbian isn’t “from a diverse background”; he’s a man claiming to be a lesbian.
Her remarks, widely perceived as transphobic, have occurred amidst growing tensions and discussions about inclusivity within the LGBTQ+ community.
“Widely perceived” – well that’s easy to say, but how do you know? And how widely perceived as simply the truth are her remarks? And anyway why should we care? Lesbians and gays were once “widely perceived” as scary perverts, so what’s your point?
We know what their point is of course. To denounce and demonize and rebuke a lesbian for knowing that men are not lesbians. Pathetic.
Wait up here, bub. Navratalova is making a correction. It’s Stonewall making an “assertion” that a man can be a lesbian. We can see who has the facts on her side. Maybe Stonewall could take some assertiveness training from Lee Shevek. Not that that would make them any more believable, but that tough, muscular, arms crossed avatar might make critics think twice before talking back, which is really the point.
Note also that this writer has downgraded sexual orientation to an “identity” by claiming that “transgender women” can “identify as lesbians.” Nice to slip that one under the radar! Good to know that all of the clientele that Stonewall works for are now simply identitarian. So it’s probably just a matter of time before they start advocating for furries and adults who believe they’re babies.
As usual, they point the finger at the wrong side. Controversy does not arise from saying something that is widely accepted, it arises when the accepted thing is challenged.
Women are female, and the controversy has arisen solely from those that challenge this basic word meaning.
It’s the natural consequence of believing “My Feminism is Intersectional, or it is Bullshit” — or any variation using what used to be a civil rights cause now turned into a matter of critical social justice. Anyone who wants to eradicate one form of injustice must commit to eradicating all forms of injustice because the roots of privilege and prejudice are supposed to be the same. Since the US had a very clear problem with race, we get “Queers For Palestine.” Since people who identify as trans claim an inborn identity oppressed by conservatives, we get “Transbians.” It’s the seductive desire to make your moral activism as global as possible and borrow righteousness from all available sources.
Yes, this is a way to hold her up as a warning, scapegoat, and example (like JKR), of someone who has refused to bow down and accept the redefinition of reality. “BEHOLD A SINNER! BEHOLD A HERETIC!
