He she they person

Wiltshire police are deranged.

A “person” was found guilty of rape. The court tried this “person” as a woman, even though he is of course a man. Women can’t rape. The police say that at the time of the “offence” – i.e. the rape – he was “living as a man.” What they mean is that he wasn’t yet pretending to be a woman. He was found guilty and remanded in custody. The victim of the rape is referred to as “they.”

Complete dog’s breakfast.

The victim of the rape is referred to as “they.”

    And the rapist?

She is due to be sentenced…

So we have a female rapist and a gender-neutral victim. One other phrase leapt out at me:

I would firstly like to thank our victim..

Our victim? Probably the most honest part of the whole thing.

Had one of these in PDX recently, described a woman pistol whipping while committing an armed robbery. Immediately I was suspicious (when women are violent they don’t usually go in for clubbing) and lot and behold the “woman” was also known by another name “Damorian” which is generally a male name. Now, doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t a woman but this was in the Portland area so…

Reading between the lines, I think they know exactly how stupid it all is. They came up with the information “lived as a man/committed by a man” up front. If it were (or was? never get this right) the BBC, they would not tell us at all or hint at it in the final paragraph and only talk about a woman.

If the courts etc. all insist that this person is now a woman, what else should the police station write without getting in trouble. I Think they wanted to make the absurdity quite clear.
