Presumption

Straight man Jeremy Corbyn tells lesbians and gay men they can’t have solidarity for and with lesbians and gay men unless they include straight people who pretend to be the opposite sex.

I don’t think that’s his call, myself.

What are these “horrors of transgender discrimination”? Surely, he means discrimination against those who have the temerity to defend women’s hard won rights against transgender activism. Surely, he means discrimination against those who speak against the disintegration of child safeguarding. Surely, he means discrimination against those who insist on acknowledging the biological realities of sex.

    Surely.

He’s right though, how often have you ever seen LGB *without* the T? Before the goblins became a thing it was usually just “gays and lesbians” but then they saw that TCBY was a thing and just had to come up with an exciting new four letter acronym.

I wonder did Owen Jones put Corbyn up to this: “There is no LGB without the T” is one of Jones’ favourite sayings.

A reminder that the same left-wing working-class voters who rejected Corbyn in 2019 voted for George Galloway, who (for all his faults) did adopt an explicitly gender-critical position:

I think British working-class people want more of the Clement Attlee and less of the Shon Faye.
