Bossyboots

Man who pretends to be a woman and abuses any woman who points out he is a man tells JK Rowling to stop doing something she isn’t doing.

She doesn’t say she represents women. That would be an idiotic thing to say, and she’s not an idiot. (Jonathan on the other hand…) Saying women are organizing is not saying “I represent women.” It’s quite different, really.

The three pleases are a nice touch though. One would have been cold, two would have been pushy, but three are just right.

To bookend who’s making unsupported claims. Unison held a vote in an atmosphere in which women members opposed didn’t even feel safe staying in the room. There were not 750,000 women, each individually casting a vote in favour. I suspect that if there had been a period of cool headed and fair debate and exchange of views, followed by a private vote, numbers might look very different. I’m pro-union because I think unions are necessary to protect workers rights in general and specific workplaces/industries in particular. I also think unions do themselves enormous damage with greed, pursuit of unnecessary power, and promotion of social causes that are not core to protecting or advancing all workers rights.
