Helen is brilliant, while Nuala McGovern keeps pushing the mandatory doctrine in a much more confrontational way than she used when talking to the man Robin Moira White yesterday. She’s the host of Woman’s Hour, remember, not People’s Hour or Trans Hour or Man’s Hour. She’s the host of Woman’s Hour but she coddles a huge domineering man who claims to be a woman, and is prickly toward a woman who points out that men are not women. It’s extremely annoying.
Having been a vocal champion of the incorrect interpretation of the law, the Beeb is trying to fight a losing rearguard action, trotting out other voices which were also wrong, finding safety in numbers, or company in misery. Looks like Amnesty International was up next for the tea and sympathy treatment.
I thought it a good thing the interviewer kept pushing back because of course the regular audience for Woman’s Hour would be shouting all sorts of counter arguments and questions at the radio as they finally listened to the other side. Helen was ready for all of them and made sense at every turn. Excellent job.
Yes! Helen Joyce — brilliant, cutting through nonsense. As per others above above, I found myself listening, well, twice now, and I expect to hear it again. It’s that way with HJ. Her interviews always teach me something about framing an argument. New to this site, I found it on the basis of a search that the interview sparked. (What’s’ the deal with the interviewer?)
The deal with the interviewer, if I understand your question correctly, is that it’s Woman’s Hour but she’s always throwing women under the bus on this subject. Woman’s Hour is too often Trans Hour instead.
Helen’s answers were so good that I listened twice so I can use them myself.
I’m in awe of her.
Ya I’m going to be listening to it multiple times.
