Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone on the planet already knew that you can’t just help yourself to someone else’s body?

Asylum seekers arriving in Britain are being handed official booklets explaining what rape is and that men and women in Britain are “equal”.

The nine-page document, published by the Home Office, tells migrants they must understand that “laws and customs here may be different from your home country”.

On one page headed “Gender Equality”, arrivals are told that women can work, study, and travel freely without needing permission from a man in the UK.

“In the UK, men and women have equal rights. This is an important part of UK culture and is protected by law,” says the booklet, which was produced for newly arrived asylum seekers.

In a section on sex and consent, they are told that if they have sex with someone without their consent, “this is called rape”.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all that were not our bizarre local custom but just obvious basic not being a shit? Wouldn’t it be nice if women were considered people everywhere on the planet?

    They should be giving those leaflets to White British men as well.

    Because the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service has stated that 1346 men who reported their ethnicity as “White British” were convicted of rape in the 2024/2025 financial year, compared with 101 men who reported themselves as “Pakistani” and 95 men who reported themselves as “African” who were convicted for the exact same time.

    Yes, it’d be better if we didn’t have to explain the basics like this–but it’s still better to actually make this effort than not. Immigration is going to continue to be a thing, especially as the globe heats up. The alternative is not isolationism, but invasion. Desperation is going to drive people out of the equator, and if they aren’t allowed to enter legally, they’ll have no choice but to force their way in.

    So instead, it’s better to make every effort to integrate the newcomers into the societies they’ve chosen to flee to. This does mean we’re going to have to reconsider the nature of ‘multiculturalism’–some cultural ideals are going to have to get denounced, and gender roles are going to be some of the biggest.

    Mostly Cloudy, I checked those figures you gave against the number of Pakistani males (I looked only at Pakistanis and did not include Muslim men of other ethnicities) and the number of white males, in England and Wales, per the 2021 census.

    101 comes to 0.0127% of Pakistani males

    1346 comes to 0.0056% of white males
