Using bold images

The Good Law Project has a new campaign, called “Of course I support trans – I’m not a monster”.

What does “I support trans” even mean? Is this Maugham trying to sound like a fellow kid? “Bro, I support trans, hur hur”?

They’ve employed a real artist and everything.

But most people in the UK think trans people should be left in peace to live their best lives.

We’ve commissioned public artist Martin Firrell to highlight this majority view, using bold images of a T rex, a shark, and a giant gorilla.

These monsters are appearing on billboards across the UK, boosting the voice of the silent majority: “Of course I support trans – I’m not a monster.”

Childish enough yet?

Yes, but what do ‘most people’ mean when they say they should be left in peace? I suspect that means they think they should have the rights everyone else has, not special rights to force everyone else to agree with – or pretend to agree with – their delusion.

Did the artist also do a bold monster image of Jolyon clubbing a fox to death with a baseball bat?

Also note the dehumanization on the one hand (next image will probably be cockroaches) and the over-the-top demand on the other: It is not enough anymore to just do nothing about trans people; if you do not actually support them, you are a monster.

“…boosting the voice of the silent majority…”

By which they mean the loud minority. 180 degrees wrong.

Silly and foolish own goal. It’s now an abandoned campaign for which Maugham/GLP has apologised:

Confirmation that the Good Law Project have withdrawn the “Monster” campaign:

One for the “Circular Firing Squad” department, methinks.

Some kind soul on Mumsnet has archived the GLP’s blunder:

What was T’s objection to the campaign? I think some context is missing.
