Years in prison for what did you say?

Zack Polanski thinks breaking a woman’s back is not worth punishing the perpetrators.

The “direct action”:

Four Palestine Action activists have been jailed after causing £1.2m of damage at a UK site of an Israel-based defence firm.

Charlotte Head, 30, Samuel Corner, 23, Leona Kamio, 30, and Fatema Rajwani, 21, were convicted of criminal damage in a retrial after they broke into the Elbit Systems factory near Bristol in August 2024.

Mr Justice Johnson said their actions had aimed to influence the government and the group was sentenced on the basis the raid had a “terrorist connection”.

Corner was jailed for seven years and eight months for criminal damage and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a police sergeant. The judge said he had no justification for the “extreme and gratuitous force” used.

The GBH was a broken back. The police sergeant is a woman. That’s what Polanski is calling “protest” and “direct action” and saying should not be punished.

You know what’s gut wrenching? Being hit in the back with a sledgehammer, twice. That’s a truly dangerous attack, not sentencing the thug who did it.

That Polanski writes off as “direct action” and “protesting” attempting to kill a woman with a sledgehammer should disqualify him from any role in politics.

Decisions have consequences, and 1. a decision to strike a blow with a sledgehammer that could kill someone, or maim her or him for life is a serious one. Likewise, 2. that ancient decision by those followers of Moses, as set out in Deuteronomy, to believe that they were God’s chosen people, and entitled to all the land the said Moses could see from the top of Mount Whatsit. And unfortunately, decision 1 is a consequence of decision 2.

As will be decisions 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on heading for infinity. Israel vs Palestine will be a contest likely still going on in a thousand years time, in one form oranother, with the possibility always of it escalating into a global nuclear war.
