In the UK even the Tories don’t attack the principle of a national health, at least not in public statements.
Theresa May has rebuked Donald Trump over his claim the NHS is failing, publicly backing her health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, after he tweeted disagreement with the US president’s view.
The response from May – who generally seeks to avoid criticising Trump – came after the president condemned Democrat plans for a universal healthcare system by noting in a tweet Saturday’s protest march in London demanding more NHS funding.
Democratic plans. Not Democrat plans; “Democrat” is not the adjective; the adjective is Democratic. Using “Democrat” as the adjective is a calculated insult from the other side, and it’s also illiterate.
Asked whether May backed Hunt’s opinion, her spokesman said: “The prime minister is proud of having an NHS which is free at the point of delivery.

Of course American doctors and nurses are excellent, and American medical technology is excellent.
It’s the system that delivers worse outcomes for more money than the rest of the developed world.

I assume that Trump doesn’t understand that the NHS has the problems it does because the Conservatives ensure it is under-funded. Hunt is such a hypocritical tosspot. It is the American system of healthcare that is at the centre of his, and his party’s, most feverishly exciting dreams. To the Labour Party’s eternal shame, Tory-lite Blair and his government allowed creeping privatisation to happen, too, when they could amd should have made the NHS so much stronger.
Yeah, Trump seems to think they are protesting against having the NHS, rather than that they are protesting FOR having the NHS, and giving it proper funding.
That’s long been a conservative propaganda thing, though, claiming that Brits and Canadians hate their health care and want to have what we have. And there is always someone they can find to trot out over and over again to proclaim how awful their system is…and there are always plenty of Americans who will believe every word of it, because, well, just because.
What I don’t get is why Nigel “Fucking” Farage (that’s his name now as far as I’m concerned!) is everyone’s go-to guy. You don’t see any other ex-MP, ex-party leader that gets this level of attention.
